Whether you are a vegetarian, vegan or meat eater, you will enjoy the healthy foods and drinks at the Shanti Yoga Vegan Cafe. The wooden interior, friendly staff and calm atmosphere is a great complement to their healthy, natural, soul fulfilling food.

Reasonably priced vegan food in the city center. Located in the same building as the Shanti hot yoga studio, the vegan cafe is trying to provide the full circle of health- body, spirit and mind by fulfilling your hunger without compromising your food by adding any animal products or by-products.

The friendly staff provide good service and good quality vegan food. This is so impressive as there are very few restaurants in this area of Japan that even provide to vegetarians, so to do strictly vegan foods well is quite an accomplishment.

Lunch sets are under ¥1,000 and dinner sets are around ¥1,500 for a nice amount of food. The tempeh burger is flavorful, juicy and tender with a lovely sauce. One of the main dishes for dinner is a vegetable steak with teriyaki sauce served on a bed of salad and grilled peppers- savory and healthy. The tempeh and vegetable harumaki spring rolls have a lovely light flavor, and only need a little spicy dipping sauce to bring it to a “wow” level. The menu is updated every few months to highlight seasonal vegetables and fruits.

The lunch-set menu is a bargain and they offer some really cute kids sets too that have a good balance of fun colors and flavors on a bento style plate.

The drinks menu offers up some amazing smoothies and fresh juices as well as organic beers and wine. Many regular customers rave about the thick and delicious avocado shake. There are also hot drinks that are both healthy and deliciously satisfying, like the herbal tea varieties and decaf coffees. The Indian style Chai tea is especially lovely.

Making desserts without eggs or dairy products is a challenge, but there are always a delicious range of cakes, pies, muffins or cookies in the dessert display. It is worth trying the tofu rare cheesecake or the cocoa pound cake if you crave something sweet. If you go in between lunch and dinner, a smaller selection of foods and drinks are available.
