B & B Furano

small and quaint pension

For travelers who prefer private bathrooms and clean rooms, B&B Furano offers accommodation at an affordable price. Many come to Furano to admire her flowers in summer, and to ski in winter. Furano also boasts a wide variety of fresh agricultural produce. All year round, there is something for everyone.

Located within a five minute walk from the base of the Kitanomine ski slope and gondola, tucked away from the main road, B&B Furano is a small quiet two-story pension house managed by an elderly couple.

From JR Furano Station, it is only a ten minute drive. A taxi ride costs about 1200 yen. Alternatively, there is a bus to the main road, from which it is a short walk in. However, do take note of the schedule as its frequency is every one to two hours. If you are up for a challenge, it is only a half an hour walk away. There are many restaurants and convenience stores along the way.

Following the GPS, B&B Furano was easy to locate. I arrived in the night, and from the main road, a lighted bright blue but slightly hidden sign showed its location. Checking in was a breeze, right at the entrance was the check-in counter. The owner did not smile much, but was friendly to explain the available facilities in English. Upon entering, immediately there was a homely feel to the house.

Rooms are basic yet clean. There are tatami rooms and western rooms. Private bathroom options, as well as shared bathrooms are available. Each floor had an open area, where groups can gather and hang out. Books and travel guides are available. There was even a piano where you can play some tunes during the day.

We had booked a time for breakfast the next day, and when we arrived at the dining area, breakfast was already laid out neatly in a set. It was a western set with some spaghetti, eggs, sausage, mashed potatoes, corn, and tomatoes. Some might find the portions small as it was a bit of everything. There was a slice of Furano’s famous melon, and the must-try milk from the Furano Cheese Factory. There was also a buffet spread of bread, buns, croissants, cornflakes, orange juice, coffee and tea. The lady at the breakfast counter was smiley and ready to help if needed as well.

B&B Furano does not have her own website, but reservations can be made through third-party websites like Rakuten or Booking.com.
