Perched high above the city at the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden on the slopes of Mount Rokko, the newly renovated The Veranda Kobe is giving visitors yet another reason to explore Kobe’s scenic mountainside this summer. The destination combines sweeping panoramic views with elegant lounge spaces, cafés, and open-air relaxation areas designed to make the most of Kobe’s natural scenery.
Located around 400 meters above sea level, the venue overlooks the cityscape of Kobe, the Hanshin area, lush greenery, and the Seto Inland Sea. Inspired by the atmosphere of Kobe’s historic Western-style residences, the revamped space blends classic design with modern terrace culture.
One of the standout additions is the Emerald Lounge, a tranquil terrace that appears to float within the forest. Surrounded by a reflective water feature inspired by natural springs, the lounge creates a calm retreat tucked into the greenery. Elsewhere, the Sky Bar offers counter seating with dramatic views over the city, making it an ideal place to enjoy sunset and evening scenery during the summer seasonal hours planned from mid-July through late August.
For visitors wanting a more immersive nature experience, the Hammock Sanctuary suspends guests roughly five meters above the ground in netted hammocks among the trees. Meanwhile, the Garden Terrace features luxurious sofas, parasols, and water elements that give the space a resort-style atmosphere.
Inside, the Herbal Café pairs expansive windows with herb-inspired interiors, including chandeliers designed to resemble dried herbs and displays featuring herbs grown on-site.

The Veranda Kobe is located within the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden complex, accessible via the Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway, just a short walk from Shin-Kobe Station.
