I loved walking through this path lined on both sides by trees and statues wearing red caps. There is a very spiritual and peaceful feel to this place.

Mount Takao, located within a protected national park, is situated near Tokyo and easily accessible by train.  There are multiple hiking trails, a cable car, and chair lift traversing up and down the mountain.  The hiking trails take you through tree-lined paths and past Buddhist statues and temples.  The color-changing leaves are beautiful if you go in the fall.  Near the top of Mount Takao, there are amazing views of Mount Fuji and Tokyo.  The hikes vary in difficulty level and can be as strenuous or relaxing as you would like as there are many things to see.

This is the bottom of the Mount Takao and the start of the hiking trails, cable car ride up, and chair lift. The Japanese statues, including this one pictured here and a flying squirrel are so fun!
These statues reminded me of the seven dwarfs for some reason -- irreverent, I know.
Atypical of Japanese religious structures, this one reminded me of white steeple churches. I love the way the shadows fell on the building and ground.
These statues of gods are striking against the fiery colors of the autumn leaves.
These little red capped statues run along the hiking path within and between the trees. They impart a sense of watchfulness and protection
