　さすがに嵯峨御所と呼ばれるだけあって、境内は広く、各諸殿舎をつなぐ回廊はとにかく長い。これは大覚寺の特徴の一つ。

　さて、この大覚寺に大沢の池、京都に育つ私にとって非常に馴染みが深い。幼少の頃より観た時代劇の番組、ロケがここ大覚寺で行われている事が多かった。中でも鮮明に記憶に残っているのは大岡越前のお白洲のシーン！よくテレビを指さしながら観ていた。それともう一つは小学校の時の写生会がここ大沢の池であったこと。大覚寺の北側の山を越えると我が故郷高雄なのだ。この紅葉を眺めながら遠い昔を懐かしんだ。
