Every year in October Machida holds a Jidai Matsuri, where people wear costumes from the past and parade through the town streets. Later the same day there is a horseback archery competition in Machida's Serigaya Park. First, men compete, then women. They have to shoot at two paper targets spaced alongside the track. Finally the targets are changed to pieces of wood, and both the men and the women compete together. This video shows the female archers. It is an exciting event to watch, and there are always a lot of spectators.
