Each autumn, Takino Suzuran Hillside Park in Hokkaido transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors for the Takino Autumn Leaves Festival, and a big part of the charm with this event lies in the variety of foliage. Visitors can expect not only fiery reds, but also bright yellows, oranges, and greens. Because peak colors change depending on the zone, every stroll through the park offers a fresh perspective and a chance to discover something new.
One of the most popular sights is Ashiribetsu Falls, which becomes especially striking when surrounded by vibrant autumn scenery. Throughout the festival, themed activities and guided tours invite guests to learn more about the natural beauty of the park while enjoying their walk among the leaves.
The festival also highlights seasonal flowers. In the lower section of the Country Garden, kochia plants gradually change from green to a mix of red and green before turning fully red in early autumn. This year, in addition to well-known varieties such as Rouge and Takino Fire Egg, a new variety that stays green even in autumn is on display. Dahlias also take center stage in the Palette Square of the central zone, blooming in both large, bold forms and smaller, pompon shapes that brighten the garden throughout the season.

The park is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00. Admission is priced at 450 JPY for adults, 210 JPY for seniors, and free for children under 15. If you're self-driving to the venue, please note that parking fees apply separately.
