Images from the disaster, ten years on

場所: Art Tower Mito St., Mito, Ibaraki, Japan 日付: Feb 20th - May 9th 2021

A special exhibition taking place at Ibaraki's Art Tower Mito looks at the March 2011 natural disaster through the eyes of artists, ten years on. The museum itself acted as a temporary shelter after the disaster, so there is certainly a direct human connection here to the tragic event.

The pieces on display will include paintings, photographic works, and more by the likes of Kamo Kaoru, Makiko Satake, and Tadasu Takamine to name just a few.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 900 yen.

行き方

Art Tower Mito can be accessed within around 20 minutes from the Joban Expressway's Mito IC. Paid parking is available at the nearby Mito Municipal Gokencho Underground Parking Lot - it's free for up to 30 minutes, ¥200 for up to 1 hour, and then ¥100 for every 30 minutes thereafter.

Alternatively, the venue is around 20 minutes on foot (or a five minute taxi ride) from Mito Station, served by the Jōban Line, the Suigun Line, and the Ōarai-Kashima Line.
