Japanese Crafts Exhibition 2020-2021

Materials, Techniques and Regionalities

場所: National Crafts Museum, Ishikawa 日付: Oct 25th - Jan 11th 2021

A special exhibition at the National Crafts Museum in Ishikawa running until January 11, 2021 delves into the world of Japanese crafts, specifically focusing on the materials, techniques, and regional links to particular craft styles.

Around 130 pieces will be exhibited at the event (a full list can be found in English here), which include various types of vases, tea caddies, jewelry boxes, weaved flower baskets, and more. The items displayed are intended to provoke some critical thinking, such as how these artisans have adapted and changed with Japan's modernization, and how they interact with their natural world.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 500 yen.

行き方

The National Crafts Museum is located approximately 10 to 15 minutes by taxi from JR Kanazawa Station's East Gate.

Alternatively, there are bus services available from the station to the museum area. The Kanazawa Loop Bus takes around 18 to 20 minutes - alight at the “ Hirosaka, 21st Century Museum” stop, and the National Crafts Museum is around 7 minutes on foot from there.
