Henri Matisse: The Path to Color 2023

Follow the birth of Fauvism and beyond

場所: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum 日付: Apr 27th - Aug 20th 2023

Henri Matisse was regarded as one of the most influential figures in the visual arts field during the early 20th Century, and was particularly well-known for founding the vivid, colorful Fauvism art style. A special exhibition coming to the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum this spring will delve into all things Matisse, in Japan's first major retrospective exhibition of his works for almost 20 years.

Henri Matisse: The Path to Color will showcase approximately 150 masterpieces including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and paper cutouts, with one of the highlights being Luxe, Calme et Volupté (1904), seen as the starting point of Fauvism.

Ticket prices for the event have not yet been determined – more information should be released on the official website closer to the commencement date.
