Arita Ceramic Fair
April 29th - May 5th @ Arita Town
Arita Town in Saga Prefecture hosts the Arita Ceramic Fair (有田陶器市) every spring. It is an excellent opportunity for the community to showcase their local craftsmanship, and for visitors to try their hand at some of the regionally-specific ceramic methods traditionally used here. Having celebrated their 114th festival in 2017, this event has been an integral part of the town for more than a century. Be sure not to miss out on this fabulous treat.
Arita Ceramics Fair 2025
The town of Arita, the birthplace of porcelain in Japan, holds an annual ceramics fair during Golden Week.
Kawakami Gorge Spring Festival
Mid-March - Mid-May @ Yamato Town, Saga City
Here over 300 carp streamers made and donated by local residents are streamed over the Kase River in the small town of Yamato in Saga City. During the festival period, the local town operates boat rides along the river so that you can enjoy spectacular views of the streamers on the water. Visit Kawakami Gorge Spring Festival (川上峡春まつり) and enjoy the local culture.
Mifuneyama Rakuen Flower Festival
Mid-April - Early May @ Mifuneyama Rakuen
You can visit the renowned Mifuneyama Rakuen and enjoy in various flower festivals (御船山楽園 花まつり). The festival focuses on azalea flowers, wisteria flowers, and spring maple trees. When the sun goes down, the flowers are lit up and it is worth visiting at night!
