Tsumago-juku is a post town along the Kiso Valley's ancient highway, the Nakasendo. Hiking from the next post town, Magome, is highly recommend when visiting the area. Tsumago is mostly flat, with a couple of small hills, so it is much easier to traverse than Magome. A number of quaint shops and lovely ryokan (Japanese Inn) line the winding main street.

Buddhist statues can be found periodically along the Nakasendo.

One outer edge of town is covered in rice paddies.

If Tsumago disguised its asphalt street, the town would be perfect.
